  • Why are clean and checks important?
HVAC clean and checks (also called tune-ups or maintenance checks) are important because they help keep your heating and cooling system running efficiently, extend its lifespan, and prevent costly breakdowns. Here are a few key reasons why they matter: Improved Efficiency – Regular maintenance ensures your system runs at peak performance, reducing energy consumption and lowering utility bills. Prevents Breakdowns – Identifying and fixing minor issues before they become major problems can save you from expensive repairs or system failures. Extends Equipment Lifespan – Routine cleanings and inspections help your HVAC system last longer, delaying the need for a costly replacement. Better Indoor Air Quality – Cleaning filters, coils, and other components reduces dust, allergens, and mold, leading to cleaner air in your home. Ensures Safety – Technicians check for gas leaks, carbon monoxide risks, and electrical issues to keep your home safe.
  • When should I replace my furnace?
You should consider replacing your furnace if: Age: It's over 15-20 years old, as older furnaces become less efficient and more prone to breakdowns. Frequent Repairs: You find yourself calling for repairs often, especially if costs are adding up. Increased Energy Bills: A sudden spike in your heating bills could indicate your furnace is losing efficiency. Uneven Heating: If some rooms are too hot while others are too cold, it may signal an issue. Strange Noises: Unusual sounds, such as banging or popping, can indicate mechanical problems. Yellow Burner Flame: A healthy furnace has a blue flame; a yellow flame could indicate improper combustion. Carbon Monoxide Detector Alert: If your CO detector goes off, it may be a sign of a dangerous problem. If you're unsure, call us for a clean and check!
  • When should I replace my AC unit?
You should consider replacing your AC unit if: Age: It's more than 10-15 years old. As AC units age, they lose efficiency and require more frequent repairs. Frequent Breakdowns: If you're repairing it multiple times in a season, it's often more cost-effective to replace it. Rising Energy Bills: If your energy costs have increased significantly, it could mean your AC is no longer running efficiently. Inconsistent Cooling: If certain rooms or areas of your home aren’t getting cool enough, your unit may be struggling. Refrigerant Leaks: If the AC is low on refrigerant and needs frequent recharges, it can indicate a problem that may not be worth fixing. Noisy Operation: Excessive noise can be a sign of mechanical issues, and if it’s getting louder over time, it could indicate it’s time for a replacement. Humidity Issues: An old unit may struggle to remove moisture properly, leading to an uncomfortable level of humidity in your home. Warm Air: If your AC is blowing warm air instead of cold, and a repair doesn’t fix it, replacement may be necessary. A technician can perform an inspection to help you determine if replacing it is the best option.
  • When should I replace my water heater?
You should consider replacing your water heater if you notice any of the following signs: Age – Most traditional tank water heaters last 8-12 years, while tankless models can last 20+ years. If yours is nearing the end of its lifespan, replacement is wise to avoid unexpected failures. Rusty Water – If rusty or discolored water comes from the hot water tap, your heater’s tank may be corroding inside, which can lead to leaks. Leaking Tank – If you notice water pooling around the base of the heater, the inner tank might be failing. Small leaks often turn into major ones quickly. Inconsistent Water Temperature – If your water isn't heating properly or fluctuates in temperature, your heating elements, thermostat, or tank may be wearing out. Strange Noises – Rumbling, banging, or popping sounds indicate sediment buildup, which reduces efficiency and can lead to damage over time. Higher Energy Bills – Older water heaters lose efficiency, requiring more energy to heat the same amount of water. A newer, energy-efficient model can save you money in the long run. Frequent Repairs – If you’ve needed multiple repairs in recent years, replacing the unit may be more cost-effective than continuing to fix an aging system. When to Upgrade If your heater is 10+ years old, it's best to start planning for a replacement before it fails unexpectedly. Consider switching to a tankless water heater if you want higher efficiency and unlimited hot water. Look for Energy Star-certified models to save on energy bills. Our technicians are happy to help!
  • Why is air quality important?
    1. Health Benefits Reduces Allergens & Irritants – HVAC filters trap dust, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander, improving air quality for allergy and asthma sufferers. Prevents Respiratory Issues – Poor air quality can lead to coughing, sneezing, headaches, and long-term lung problems due to airborne pollutants. Minimizes Airborne Diseases – Proper ventilation and filtration reduce the spread of bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. 2. Comfort & Well-Being Eliminates Odors & Pollutants – A well-maintained HVAC system helps remove cooking odors, smoke, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from furniture and cleaning products. Maintains Proper Humidity Levels – Too much humidity promotes mold growth, while too little can cause dry skin and respiratory discomfort. 3. Energy Efficiency & System Longevity Reduces Strain on Equipment – A clean system runs more efficiently, using less energy and preventing overwork that can lead to breakdowns. Lowers Energy Costs – Dirty filters and clogged ducts force the system to work harder, increasing electricity bills. Extends HVAC Lifespan – Regular air quality maintenance helps prevent dust buildup, reducing wear and tear on components.
  • What do the new Refrigerant laws mean for me?
According to American Standard, "Depending on the age of your system, you may have R-22 (HCFC-22) refrigerant (2010 or earlier) or R-410A refrigerant (2010 or newer). Your HVAC technician can tell you which one your system uses. You can also find the information in your system’s owner’s manual. If you don’t have a physical copy of your owner’s manual but you know the make and model of your AC unit, you will be able to look up the manual online. You could also check the unit outside and look for the data plate. It is sometimes located on the back of the unit near the refrigerant lines or on the side of the unit. It will give you the model number, the type of refrigerant the system uses, and more information specific to your unit. Even with the new regulations regarding refrigerants, you will still be able to get HVAC service on your AC unit that uses an older refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will have access to stockpiled supplies. And when the time comes to replace your HVAC system, you will be able to choose one using the new, more sustainable, energy-efficient R-454B refrigerant."
